Add a Funnel
Use this guide to create a funnel with the setup wizard. Steps are slightly different for Review, ARC, and Lead funnels.
Before You Start
- Create products first (not needed for Lead funnels).
- Keep product descriptions clear. AI uses them for review drafts.
- Decide your funnel goal: reviews, leads, or ARC launch.
What Is a Funnel and Why Create One?
A funnel is your review and lead collection page. You can customize it based on your campaign.
1. Leave Reviews
Customers rate your products and write reviews with AI assistance. Positive reviews are guided to your marketplace (Amazon, etc.), while negative feedback is kept private.
2. Provide Feedback
Collect private notes and constructive feedback from dissatisfied customers without public reviews. This helps you improve while protecting your reputation.
3. Receive Freebies
Reward customers with complimentary resources (PDFs, coupons, access links) after completing your funnel. Delivered via instant download or email.
4. Opt-in to Marketing
Capture WhatsApp numbers and marketing consent to build your lead list for future campaigns.
Why Create Funnels? Funnels automate your workflow. You collect reviews, private feedback, and leads in one place.
Quick Overview
- Navigate to
Funnels→ Click "Create Funnel" - Complete the wizard steps (4-5 steps depending on funnel type)
- Review your funnel settings
- Create the funnel (always starts as Draft)
- Activate the funnel when ready to go live
Note: All new funnels are created as Draft by default. You must activate them before customers can access them.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Funnel Setup
Configure the basic funnel information and select products.
Required Fields:
1. Funnel Name *
Purpose: Internal name for YOUR reference only (customers don't see this).
Examples: "Summer Book Launch", "Q4 Product Reviews", "Black Friday Campaign"
Why It's Important: Helps you organize and identify funnels in your dashboard, especially when managing multiple campaigns. Choose descriptive names that make sense to you.
2. Funnel Type * (CHOOSE CAREFULLY)
Purpose: Determines what your funnel collects (reviews, leads, or both) and what features are available.
Review & Lead Funnel (Most Popular)
Best For: Books, physical products, courses, services where you want public reviews
What It Does: Collects reviews + leads simultaneously. Positive reviews go to marketplaces (Amazon, etc.), negative feedback stays private. You can offer freebies as rewards.
ARC Review & Lead Funnel (Growth Plan)
Best For: Authors sharing advance review copies (ARCs) before book launch
What It Does: Share PDF copies → Track downloads → Send automated review reminders → Collect reviews. Perfect for pre-launch review campaigns.
Lead Funnel
Best For: Pure lead generation (no reviews needed)
What It Does: Collects leads only. No review flow. Good for building email lists, capturing interest, or gated content.
Why It's Important: Funnel type cannot be changed after creation. Choose based on your goal: need reviews? → Review & Lead. Pre-launch book? → ARC. Just building list? → Lead Funnel.
3. Select Products * (Review & Lead Funnels only)
Purpose: Connect your funnel to the products customers are reviewing.
Requirements:
- Review & Lead Funnels: Choose 1-5 products (all must be same product type)
- ARC Funnels: Choose exactly 1 product
- Lead Funnels: No products required
- Marketplace Selection in Funnel: Choose 1-3 marketplaces per selected product
Why It's Important: Product descriptions automatically train the AI to help customers write authentic reviews. Multiple products let customers choose which item they're reviewing (great for book series, product lines).
Important Rule: All selected products MUST have the same product type. You cannot mix "Book" and "Online Course" in one funnel. This ensures consistent review flow and marketplace compatibility.
Edit Rule: Product assignment and per-product marketplace selection are editable only while the funnel is in Draft. For Active/Paused funnels, clone to create a variation.
Tip: Product descriptions are automatically pulled from your selected products and power the AI review assistance. Make sure your products have detailed descriptions BEFORE creating funnels.
Step 2: Customer Experience / ARC Configuration / Lead Collection
The second step varies by funnel type:
Review & Lead Funnel - Customer Experience:
Required:
- Rating Options: Choose "5-star" (detailed) or "3-option" (simple) rating scale
- Minimum Review Length: Minimum characters for reviews (default: 60, minimum: 10)
Optional Engagement Features:
- Force feedback routing: For platform marketplaces, route ratings below 4 stars to a Feedback box instead of a Review box
- WhatsApp Collection: Collect WhatsApp numbers with predefined message
- Recommendation Question: Ask if customers would recommend your product
- Marketing Consent: Ask for permission to send marketing emails
ARC Review & Lead Funnel - ARC Configuration:
Required (when activating):
- ARC File: Upload PDF file (max 10MB) - Required when activating funnel
- Review Reminder Days: Days after download to send reminder (3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 days)
Optional:
- ARC Expiration Date: Set when ARC downloads should expire
Note: ARC funnels also include all Customer Experience options from Review & Lead Funnels.
Lead Funnel - Lead Collection:
Optional:
- Custom Questions: Add custom questions to collect additional information
- Marketing Consent: Ask for permission to send marketing emails
Step 3: Freebie & Delivery (Optional but Powerful)
Configure optional freebies to reward customers for completing your funnel. Freebies significantly increase completion rates!
Why Offer Freebies? Freebies incentivize customers to complete reviews, increase conversion rates, and create goodwill. Common freebies: bonus chapters, templates, checklists, discount codes, exclusive content.
Freebie Configuration:
1. Include Freebie? (Checkbox)
Purpose: Toggle to enable/disable freebie delivery. If unchecked, customers won't receive any resources after completing the funnel.
1.5 Lead Capture Option
Purpose: Control whether customer name/email is marketplace-aware, optional, or required.
- Marketplace Default (recommended): Uses marketplace-aware defaults.
- Email Optional: Keeps contact capture optional when allowed.
- Email Required: Forces contact capture.
Important: When freebie is enabled, Lead Capture Option is locked to Email Required to ensure delivery integrity.
2. Freebie Type * (if freebie enabled)
Purpose: Choose what type of resource to deliver.
File Upload
Format: PDF, DOC, DOCX, Excel (max 1.8 MB)
Best For: Bonus chapters, guides, templates, checklists, reports. Stored securely on ReviewLead servers.
Coupon Code
Format: Text code (e.g., "SAVE20", "FREESHIP")
Best For: Discount codes, promo codes for your store/products. Displayed on completion page.
External URL
Format: Full URL (https://...)
Best For: Links to membership sites, online courses, external resources, gated content. Customers click to access.
Delivery Method * (Required if freebie enabled AND funnel is active):
Instant Download
Purpose: Customers get the download link immediately on the completion page.
Expiration: 60 minutes (1 hour)
Why Choose This: Instant gratification! Best when customers expect immediate access. They can download right away without checking email.
Email Delivery
Purpose: Send download link via email (sent automatically by the system).
Expiration: 7 days
Why Choose This: Customers can access later, less pressure to download immediately. Better for customers on mobile or with slow connections.
Requirement: You must set Customer Support Email in your Profile Settings before activating funnels with email delivery. The system will guide you if it's missing.
Pro Tip: You can select BOTH delivery methods to give customers flexibility! Instant download + email = best of both worlds.
Email Template (Growth Plan - if email delivery selected):
- Select a "Freebie Delivery" template from your email templates
- Customize email subject and body (optional)
- Use merge fields like
{{Name}},{{download_url}}
Note: Email customization is available in Growth plan and above. Starter plans use default email template.
Step 4: Launch & Share
Review your funnel settings and prepare to launch.
Funnel Status:
- Draft: Funnel is not live (default for new funnels)
- Active: Funnel is live and accepting submissions
Note: New funnels are always created as Draft. You can change the status to Active after creation.
Funnel Links & QR Code:
- Review Funnel Link: Generated automatically after creation - share this with customers
- Freebie Download Link: Generated automatically if freebie is included
- QR Code: Customizable QR code with your branding (logo, colors, text)
Preview:
Use the preview button to see how your funnel will appear to customers before activating it.
ARC Funnels - Additional Step 2: ARC Configuration
ARC Review & Lead Funnels have an additional step for ARC file configuration:
- This step appears after "Funnel Setup" and before "Customer Review"
- Upload your ARC PDF file (required when activating)
- Configure review reminder timing
- Set optional expiration date
After Creating Your Funnel
- Review Settings: Double-check all your funnel settings are correct
- Activate Funnel: Change status from "Draft" to "Active" when ready to go live
- Share Your Funnel: Copy the funnel link or download the QR code to share with customers
- Track Performance: Monitor submissions, leads, and reviews in your Dashboard and Analytics
Important Notes
- Product Descriptions: Ensure your products have complete descriptions before creating funnels. Descriptions are automatically pulled from selected products.
- Freebie Delivery: If you include a freebie and activate the funnel, you must select at least one delivery method (instant download or email delivery).
- Email Delivery: For email delivery, you must set a Customer Support Email in your Profile settings (
Settings → Profile). - ARC Funnels: Available for Growth plan and above, and for Author, Enterprise, or Whitelabel user roles.
- Email Templates: Email customization (templates, subject, body) is available in Growth plan and above.
